Terms of Service
Last updated: 15 October 2026
Koinos is operated by BlockAfric Global Services Ltd, a company registered in Nigeria ("BlockAfric", "we", "us").
1. Acceptance
By creating an account or using Koinos you agree to these Terms. If you use Koinos on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you are authorised to bind it.
2. Accounts
You must provide accurate information, keep your login secure and be at least 16 years old. We may suspend accounts that impersonate others, post abusive content or attempt to bypass payment or access controls.
3. Learning tracks and payments
Paid tracks are priced in Nigerian Naira and processed by Lotus Bank (local) or Stripe (international). Access is granted only after the payment provider confirms the transaction or a valid scholarship code is redeemed.
Scholarship codes are single-use, non-transferable and may be bound to a recipient, track or expiry date. Codes that are shared, sold or obtained fraudulently may be revoked. Refunds may be requested within 7 days of purchase if less than 25% of the track has been completed.
4. Koinos Hacks
Participation in Koinos Hacks Season 1 is subject to published challenge rules, eligibility criteria and judging rubrics. Judges' decisions are final. Prizes are paid in cash to verified winners and may be subject to applicable tax.
5. Intellectual property of builders
Builders retain full copyright and ownership of the projects, code and designs they create during Koinos Hacks.
By submitting a project you grant BlockAfric, event organisers and sponsors a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to display, demonstrate and describe your submission (including names, screenshots and video) for judging, media, reporting and promotion of the programme. This licence does not allow commercial exploitation of your product.
6. Optional incubation and right of first refusal
Selected winners may be offered an optional 12-week incubation programme. Joining is voluntary. Teams that accept agree, under a separate written agreement (such as a SAFE or share subscription with vesting), to issue between 5% and 7.5% equity to BlockAfric in exchange for incubation support.
Incubated teams grant BlockAfric a 12-month right of first refusal to participate in their next funding round on the same terms offered to other investors. No equity is taken from teams that do not join incubation.
7. Koino points and badges
Koino (KOINO) points and badges are off-chain platform rewards with no cash value. They cannot be sold or transferred except as we allow. We may adjust balances to correct errors or abuse. Any future conversion to digital assets will be governed by separate terms.
8. Corporate members and reviews
Corporate memberships unlock talent search and candidate profiles for hiring purposes only. Candidate data may not be resold or used for unsolicited marketing. Reviews must be honest and based on genuine experience.
9. Sponsorships
Sponsorship payments are allocated 70% to scholarship seats and 30% to operations and transaction costs. Sponsorship tiers are capped and confirmed only after payment is verified.
10. Acceptable use
Do not upload malware, infringing content, hate speech or harassment, scrape the platform, or attempt to access data or content you have not been granted.
11. Liability
Koinos is provided "as is". To the extent permitted by law, BlockAfric's total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Disputes will first be addressed through good-faith negotiation, then the courts of Lagos State.
